Celebrating International Women's Day

On your social media feeds today, you've probably seen posts celebrating International Women's Day. This day's significance varies for each person, as some view it as a day to acknowledge progress in women's rights, but others use it as an opportunity uphold gender roles historically imposed on women. Others may not feel included in the day at all as they experience marginalization and exclusion from the rights that other women enjoy.International Women’s Day should include solidarity for women, whether they are members of the LGBTQIA+ community, women of color, from any economic background, or any other life experience. For true gender equality, we must center the experiences of women oppressed for their gender identity or sexual orientation. We especially want to focus on furthering justice for transgender women of color, who face some of the highest rates of violence in the world today. We are stronger together, and today is about celebrating each one of us.
