Expanding Resources for Inclusive Ministry
The Covenant Network has recently added several resources to support its mission of equipping PC(USA) congregations to create a church as just and generous as God's grace.
On the Engaging in Your Community resource page, visitors can find a new video series titled "Ministry with LGBTQIA+ Older Adults." Developed in partnership with the Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network (POAMN), this resource is part of POAMN's "Expressions for Older Adult Ministry" series and offers guidance on creating inclusive environments for older LGBTQIA+ individuals. The Sexuality & Sexual Orientation page features two new additions:1. A resource on Queer Theology, added to the Opening Doors to Discipleship program in collaboration with the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators (APCE). This introductory video, featuring Brian Ellison, executive director of the Covenant Network, examines queer theology within the Reformed tradition.2. A link to the documentary film "1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture," now available for virtual screening. This film analyzes the historical context and implications of introducing the word "homosexual" into Bible translations. The Gender Identity page includes issue 57.4 of Call to Worship, a PC(USA) publication titled "Queering the Liturgy." This edition applies queer theory to worship elements, proposing innovative approaches to language, music, prayer, and preaching for inclusive worship. Readers are encouraged to subscribe to this journal, which has shared CNP Executive Director Brian Ellison's article, "And Also with You: The Identity of the Worship Leader, and Why It Matters," to those without a subscription.Explore these updated pages in addition to our existing resources for Marriage, Becoming a Welcoming Church, and Calling a Pastor.
