Celebrating 2022 and the Work Ahead

As 2022 draws to a close, help us make 2023 a year when all people can worship, serve and love in our church like never before. The past year has not been a gradual emergence from a pandemic for the Covenant Network of Presbyterians. We’ve had a record number of requests for support, guidance, educational programs and preaching – because awareness is growing of how much work lies ahead in fully welcoming and affirming all people in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).Some of these cries for help still shake me up…

  • The pastor calling with genuine fear about what will happen when they share their gender identity with the congregation they serve.
  • The session elder who despairs the loss of a beloved gay member because of people in the church who “just don’t get it.”
  • The presbytery leader struggling to turn bitter acrimony over a candidate’s views on sexuality into helpful resources that move the conversation forward.

Thankfully, each of these calls, and so many more, resulted in CNP offering something that helped – and we did that with your financial support. You are making a new day possible in the life of the church. From hours on Zoom to Sunday school classes and weekend programs to one-on-one support, the Covenant Network is making new things possible. With your help, lives are being celebrated, new ministries are beginning, and justice is being proclaimed. But there are so many more of those cries for help to be answered. The nation's political realities, the church's broader financial and organizational challenges, and new interest in LGBTQIA+ inclusion are increasing demand for our ministry like never before.Won’t you help us make 2023 the most transformative year yet? Please click here to make an end-of-year donation.  Remember that any gift made online (or postmarked) by midnight on December 31 is tax-deductible in 2022.For a more complete list of our 2022 accomplishments and 2023 plans, click here.Thank you again for all your help and support, and may 2023 be filled with blessings! It is a privilege to serve with you as we together engage in ministry and hard work – as our founding executive director Pam Byers put it 25 years ago – "toward a church as generous and just as God's grace."May we realize that vision like never before in the year ahead!
