Bisexual Awareness Week, celebrated September 16-23, highlights the experiences and resiliency of bisexual+ people. The week, co-founded by GLAAD and BiNet USA, promotes understanding of bi+ communities’ history, culture, and needs.

In 1998, Michael Page designed a pride flag for the bisexual community. Its pink stripe represents attraction to the same gender, blue to the opposite gender, and purple symbolizes attraction to any gender.

In June 2018, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s 223rd General Assembly unanimously passed Overture 11-13, celebrating diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. The overture apologizes for past unwelcoming stances, honors LGBTQ church pioneers, and pledges to protect all people’s human rights. The full text of Overture 11-13 is available on the Covenant Network of Presbyterians’ Resources page for Sexuality and Sexual Orientation.

The resource page also includes other materials for understanding, supporting and celebrating all children of God. One web resource includes “Bi Blessings,” an article written last year by Rev. TJ Remaley, a Covenant Network of Presbyterians Board member and openly bisexual ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Boise, Idaho. Those seeking a church community that is inclusive of bisexual people can use the “Find a Church” map to locate welcoming congregations across the country. CNP continues to advocate for the full inclusion and celebration of LGBTQIA+ individuals in all aspects of church life and leadership.
