“Safer Space and Bolder Vision: Connecting with Others to Welcome LGBTQIA+ People

This presentation and panel discussion will explore how congregations and individuals can more  authentically and effectively welcome LGBTQIA+ people in church and society. We’ll explore  the history of the church’s exclusion and growing affirmation of people of diverse sexual orienta tions and gender identities, and share practical ways to strengthen our work for inclusion and  equity, including making connections with others nationally and locally.

“How Welcoming Are We?:  Honest Talk and Practical Help Building a More Truly Inclusive Church”

This class will explore how and why a congregation might deepen its welcome of LGBTQIA+  people through self-examination, theological reflection, communal discernment and concrete  steps. Seizing on First Presbyterian Church’s existing commitments and spirit, we’ll explore  where God is calling each of us to action.
