The journey to ordination is a difficult one to walk alone, especially for those from marginalized communities. To that end, the Covenant Network of Presbyterians invites LGBTQIA+ inquirers and candidates to receive assistance in the ordination process.

Whether you’re wondering what to expect in your first meeting with a church Session, a Committee on Preparation for Ministry, writing a statement of faith, or preparing for the Ordination Exams, CNP can connect you with an experienced supporter. Anyone from the first steps of coming under care of a Session to the final stages of negotiating a call is welcome to reach out.

If you are a church leader interested in advocating for LGBTQIA+ candidates, we would also love to hear from you so that we can pair you with an inquirer or candidate. Your prayer, guidance, and listening ear would be a tremendous help to an LGBTQIA+ person in the ordination process.

“The Covenant Network of Presbyterians has long been a leader in advocating for changes in church policies that affirm the gifts of LGBTQIA+ people for ordained office,” said Brian Ellison, executive director. “Now, we are renewing our commitment to help the church live into those changes by supporting the people God has called to serve, as well as those who are facilitating that call process.”
